The Process

Consultation

We conduct an in-depth consultation that covers all aspects of the design and building process.  During this time we educate the customer on different styles, features and layouts while also gathering the customers wants and dreams.  When we design swimming pools, we don’t just look at the square footage of your backyard. Instead, we take a holistic bird’s eye view of your entire home. Our designers examine the balance between the exterior architecture and interior design style of your home – and we even consider the home styles of the surrounding neighborhood.

Pool Design and 3D Rendering

Our bread and butter. Our Forte. Our cup of tea. The pièce de résistance that ties your whole home together. We take pride and capturing every detail of your property in our 3D renderings as we believe that attention to detail in the beginning leads to attention to detail throughout.

A 3D rendering is not only important to understand the visual end result, but also how we will design the custom pools or outdoor living space to optimize the space in your yard.  We use sophisticated software design tools that allow us to provide a detailed, to-scale visual model of your new yard.  At this stage, you can make revisions and improvements as necessary, this is your dream so ensure that every detail is perfect.

Quote and Contract

After approval of the 3D rendering we will prepare a detailed quote.  Once approved you can submit the contract electronically.

HOA and City Permits

If applicable we will manage and submit all documents required for HOA and city permits.

Tile and Material Selections

Tile and material selections are made at an amazing design center where a designer will walk you through the process of choosing the perfect material for your project.

Pool Layout

This next stage is the first in the construction process . Here, we take the dimensions of the pool design & engineering drawings, and lay it out onto the proposed site area. This provides an ideal opportunity to see the outlines of the actual size and shape of the pool prior to excavation.

Excavation

Once the layout stage is complete we then proceed on to the process of excavating the grass, underlying soil and rock in order to prepare the site for the pool construction.

Steel Reinforcement / Rebar

Just as steel and wood are used to form a solid foundation for a home; it is also used to form the shape and structure of your pool. While it is visually rough, it serves as the framework for a pool scape with high structural integrity.

Gunite

Invite your neighbors for a pool party when your pool is completed, but this stage is almost just as awesome. A large team of experienced personnel apply the gunite using high-pressure hoses to create the tough inner shell of your new pool. It truly is awesome to see the gunite applied and hand crafted forming your dream pool.

Tile, Coping and Decking

While the gunite is curing we will start having the materials needed for tile and coping delivered to the site. Our expert stone masons will place the tile along the water line of your pool. The coping is the material installed on the top or "beam" of the structure. Also during this time all waterfall and rock features will be put into place. Decking is the perimeter area surrounding your pool. There are a variety of surfaces available from Kool Deck, Stamped Concrete, Salted Concrete, Belgard Pavers and Travertine Pavers.

Electrical and Plumbing

It is time to install all the plumbing and electrical components by our Master Plumber and Electrician. We ensure that the plumbing is pressure tested and the electrical meets the necessary city, state and federal codes.

Plaster, Start-up and Pool School

Plaster is the finish of your pool and produces the unique water color you are looking for.  At POD we utilize and follow the startup procedure that is recommended by the National Plaster Council and we will service, balance and maintain your pool for the first 10 trips, approximately two weeks.  Pool school is where our trained POD staff will teach you not only how to utilize all of your equipment but how to maintain your pool.
