FAQs | Pools of Dreams — Custom Pool Builder Houston

Question 1

How long does it take to build a custom pool?

Accepted Answer

Most custom pool projects take between 10 and 16 weeks from permit approval to final startup. This is a typical estimate, not a guarantee — project complexity, weather, inspections, permitting timelines, material availability, and site-specific conditions can all affect the schedule. We provide a detailed project timeline during the design phase so you have a clear picture of what to expect for your specific project.

Question 2

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

We primarily serve Manvel, Friendswood, Pearland, Alvin, League City, Galveston, Mont Belvieu, and Baytown. We can often accommodate projects outside these areas — contact us to discuss your location.

Question 3

How much does a custom pool cost?

Accepted Answer

Custom pool pricing varies significantly based on size, shape, materials, features, and site conditions. During your private design consultation, we walk through investment expectations in detail so you have full clarity before moving forward. We do not publish pricing online because every project is unique.

Question 4

Do you handle permits and HOA approvals?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We handle required city permitting for every project. When your community has an HOA, we coordinate and submit the required documentation on your behalf throughout the process. This is consistent with our structured project management approach — you should not have to chase paperwork.

Question 5

What is included in the design consultation?

Accepted Answer

The initial consultation is an in-depth, on-site meeting where we review your property, understand your goals and priorities, discuss desired features and style, and establish overall project expectations. From there, we move into the design phases — including 3D rendering and material selections — as part of our structured process. Learn more about how the full project unfolds on our process page.

Question 6

Do you build pools for new construction homes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work with homeowners building new homes as well as those adding a pool to an existing property. For new construction, we coordinate with your builder to ensure the pool and outdoor environment are integrated into the overall project.

Question 7

Can you renovate or remodel an existing pool?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We handle full pool renovations including replastering, tile replacement, coping upgrades, equipment modernization, and structural repairs. If your pool no longer reflects the quality of your home, we can transform it.

Question 8

How many projects do you take on at once?

Accepted Answer

We intentionally limit the number of active projects we take on at any given time. This allows our team to give every client focused attention and deliver a finished product that reflects our standards. We are not a volume builder.

Question 9

What financing options are available?

Accepted Answer

Homeowners who want payment flexibility can explore financing through independent third-party lenders. Pools of Dreams does not make lending or credit decisions — we are not a lender or financing intermediary. You can review the available financing options on our financing page and apply directly with the lender of your choice.

Question 10

What warranty do you offer?

Accepted Answer

Applicable warranty information and responsibilities are detailed as part of the project and contract documentation, so you understand the coverage associated with your project, materials, and equipment before construction begins. We use quality materials and skilled tradespeople specifically to minimize issues — and when they arise, we address them promptly.

Question 11

What type of pools does Pools of Dreams build?

Accepted Answer

We build custom gunite pools. Gunite is a concrete-based construction method that allows for virtually any shape, depth, or configuration — freeform, geometric, or a combination — tailored to your property and design goals. Every pool is designed from scratch based on your specific backyard, architecture, and how you plan to use the space.

Question 12

Do you build outdoor kitchens and complete outdoor-living spaces?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Outdoor living is a core part of what we do. We design and build covered patios, pergolas, and fully equipped outdoor kitchens — including built-in grills, prep areas, refrigeration, and durable finishes suited to the Texas climate. We also incorporate fire features, pool automation, artificial turf, and putting greens. See the full range of what we offer on our services page.

Question 13

How do I get started with a custom pool project?

Accepted Answer

The first step is scheduling your initial design consultation. We meet at your property, review your space, and discuss your vision, goals, and priorities. From there, we move through our structured design and planning process — 3D rendering, material selections, permitting, and construction. You can request a consultation on our contact page, and learn more about how the full project unfolds on our process page.

Question 14

What happens after my pool is completed?

Accepted Answer

Once construction is complete, we follow the startup procedure recommended by the National Plaster Council. Our team services, balances, and maintains your pool for the first 10 visits — approximately two weeks — to ensure the water chemistry and equipment are properly established. We also conduct Pool School, where our staff walks you through how to operate all of your equipment and maintain your pool going forward.
